Sapientia U23, the oldest age group of the Szeklerland Ice Hockey Academy, is organizing open training sessions under the name Sapientia U23 Open Prep Camp. The program is designed for athletes born between 2003 and 2008 who wish to gain insight into the team’s professional environment and training system, or those interested in joining the „Sapi” roster for the upcoming season.
The Mission: A Bridge to Professional Hockey
The mission of Sapientia U23 is to provide athletes aging out of the U18 category with a platform for advancement, development, and a smooth transition into senior professional hockey. This initiative has been highly successful over the past few years; today, almost every major senior team in the region features former „Sapi” players. In one standout season, a remarkable 16 athletes received professional contracts from various senior clubs in the area.
A Season of Growth
The 2025-26 season has been equally productive. We competed in senior championships with an exceptionally young roster (average age: 19.3 years), witnessing significant development among our 17, 18, and 19-year-old athletes. This rapid growth is fueled by our diverse competitive schedule, as the club competes in the Romanian U20 Championship, the Senior National Championship and Cup, and the European University Hockey League (EUHL).
Join the Camp
In preparation for the next season, the Sapientia U23 Open Prep Camp will take place from April 20–22 at the Felcsík Ice Rink in Cârța (Karcfalva). The camp’s primary goal is to provide a firsthand look at the project’s operations, the team’s daily work, and our world-class training facilities.
The camp is open to all domestic and international players born between 2003 and 2008 who are interested in the Sapientia U23 program or are considering joining the squad in the future.
